Sterling Speirn is the former CEO of the National Conference on Citizenship and served as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship which in June, 2020, published their report, "Our Common Purpose:  Reinventing American Democracy for the 21st Century."  He has spent much of his career in organized philanthropy having served as the President & CEO at both the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (2006-2013) and the Peninsula Community Foundation, now the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (1992-2005).  Prior to that he managed the computer Community Grants program at Apple Computer. He currently serves on the CivXNow Advisory Council and is a Senior Fellow at the Bridge Alliance.
